The Grammy Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning country singer behind hits like “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head” and “Hooked on a Feeling,” B.J. Thomas has died at 78.
The award-winning singer passed away at his home in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, 29th May after suffering complications from lung cancer. The heartbreaking news has been confirmed via a post on his official Twitter page.
The message read: “It is with profound sadness we confirm the passing of BJ Thomas.”
B.J Thomas first announced the diagnosis in March. He said, “I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to record and perform beautiful songs in pop, country, and gospel music, and to share those wonderful songs and memories around the world with millions of you.“
Thomas, who had been battling stage-four lung cancer began his music career in the 1960s and the iconic ‘Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head‘ was among his most well-known hits.
Over the years, Thomas won five Grammys, sold 70 million albums worldwide, and has eight No. 1 hit and 26 Top 10 singles. Among his hits were “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song,” “I Just Can’t Help Believing,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” and “Hooked on a Feeling.”
