The Magpies are looking to strengthen their squad during this January transfer window and the former Spurs player is one option they are looking to bring over to the St.James' Park, according to Sky Sports News. Trippier played under Eddie Howe while he was managing Burnley, so it will be a familiar relationship between both parties if the deal pulls through.
The 31-year-old joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 from Tottenham. He was part of the winning team that won the La Liga last season with the Madrid side. He has 35 caps for the England national team and was part of the squad that lost the final of the Euro 2020 to Italy.
