It was a good day for Nigeria at the Track events of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Sunday, August 1st, 2021, as Enoch Adegoke, Ese Brume, and Oluwatobiloba Amusan booked their spots in the final of the Games.
Nigeria's Athlete Enoch Adegoke qualified for the final of the Men's 100 meters event, achieving this feat with a time of 10 seconds in heat 2 of the Semifinal. He becomes the first Nigerian to book a spot in the final of the 100 meters event in any Olympic Game since Davidson Ezinwa at Atalanta 96.
There was also good news for Nigeria in the 100 meters hurdles where Oluwatobiloba Amusan won her heat in the semifinals of the event in 12.62 seconds. This achievement makes her the first Nigerian since Gloria Alozie at Sydney 2000 to qualify for the 100 meters hurdles final in an Olympic Game.

Nigeria's Long Jump representative Ese Brume qualified for the final of the Long Jump event. She leaped to a 6.76m distance, 1cm ahead of the automatic qualifying mark on Sunday, August 1st, 2021. The final comes up on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021.
Usheoritse Itsekiri could not get a spot in the final of the Men's 100 meters event. He finished seventh in his heat with a time of 10.29 seconds.
