Nigerian Songs This Week

Bella Shmurda – “World”

Fine boi Bella made a triumphant comeback with another classic jam titled, World. This smooth track is a follow-up to his previously released hit single, Rush. World is an amazing Fusion of Jazz and Afrobeats. The beats of the track were dope, the tempo of the song was mid and the lyrics were simple yet very expressive. Unlike Rush where he talked about living his life freely and not been bothered about people’s opinions, In World, he focused his undivided attention on the unusual happenings in the present society like incest, Gay relationships, Juju and the second coming of Christ. This emotional tune was produced by the talented beatmaker, SB. GET HERE / Listen below

Peruzzi – “God Forbid”

Off his second studio album Rum & Boogie, Peruzzi rolled out a sweet Jam titled God Forbid.  Personally, I feel God Forbid’s sound was Inspired by Tuface’s conventional R&B tunes. He sounded more like Tuface than the artist who flowed smoothly in “Majesty”.

God Forbid is an amazing combination of Afrobeats and R&B. The beats of the song were top-notch, the lyrics were catchy and Peruzzi’s vocals were on point. In God forbid, Peruzzi expresses his fearless love for his lady and his preparedness to defend their love. This bopping track was produced by Clemzy. Enjoy!

JAE5 – “Dimension” feat. Rema x Skepta.

It’s a big hit whenever the Prince of Afrobeats, Rema is involved. Last month UK-based Grammy award-winning producer Jae5 blessed the music scene with an overload of his first debut single, Dimension. He crafted out the perfect team, Rema and Skepta for his addictive jam. Rema as usual killed the hook and the chorus of the song with pure, undiluted vibes. Skepta on the other hand delivered the maddest and coolest lines on the track. Dimension is a groovy, smooth-sounding afrobeats track that tells a dark, yet self-motivating story.

Justin Bieber – “Loved By You” feat. Burna Boy

You don’t expect a song delivered by two grammy award winners to be anything, but Amazing. Loved by You is a dope Pop and R&b tune crafted by Justin Bieber. He decided to feature the Africa Gaint, The Odogwu – Burna Boy to give the already smashing jam a taste of the Afrobeat spice. Burna boy didn’t fail to deliver. His vocals were on point, his swag was dripping and his vibe was exactly the extra ingredient the song needed. The lyrics of the song were simple but still catchy. Though Justin vested heavily on the Pop Sound, traces of Afrobeat could still be heard on the track. Loved By You is a highly infectious track, that you can’t help but in fall love with. If you are looking for a song to vibe to this week, loved by you is highly recommended.

Mr P – “I Love You”

Psqures fans, calm down. This is not a remix of P square’s I Love You anthem.

Fast-rising solo artist, Mr P has dished out another love anthem, I Love You. Released off his debut album – The Prodigal, Mr P dropped one of the coolest R&B tracks in a long time. This is not an exaggeration after he featured talented hitmakers like Teni, Simi, and Tamar Braxton on the track.

Simi with her angelic voice gives the song a feminine touch, Teni with her powerful vocals, and Mr P with his cool, romantic vibes. The Beats of the track were cool, nothing too dramatic or too serious, the lyrics were also simple and romantic. I Love You is a love song produced by Goldswarm… Listen and Enjoy!

Lyta – “Are You Sure” ft. Zinoleesky, Emo Grae

Marlian Baby boy, Lyta decided to hit the streets with his first single of the year, “Are you sure?“. Lyta took things to another level when he featured his boss, Naira Marley, The show killer, Zinoleesy, and Emo Grae on the track. Three words to decide this banger, Addictive, Unforgettable, and Vibey. The beats of the song were mad, soft but still bopping.

Are You Sure is an infectiously catchy track with a touch of the marlian street spice. In this track, the marlian soldiers took turns in asking their lover if she was really sure of her feelings or if she was being influenced by alcohol. The tune was produced by Tripps.

“Forever Remix” by Gyakie featuring Omah Lay

Gyakie is not backing down with her love anthem, “Forever”. Recall how the R&B love track swept through social media and couples literally sucked the life out of the tune on tik tok. Well, the Ghanian songstress is back and she decided to spice things up by featuring our best Ashawo singer, Omah Lay. Omah Lay can confidently make any song bop. But if you are not convinced, his sizzling contribution to Pronto will surely do the trick. The video of “Forever” Remix has over three million views on YouTube and it was just released few weeks ago. This mid-tempo, smoothing, yet addictive love song produced by Kros will Forever be played… Enjoy!

“Somebody Baby” by Peruzzi featuring Davido

After several bashing, slamming, and pleading from Peruzzi’s fans, he finally released a new song before his “Rum and Boogie” Album. Peruzzi teamed up with the number hitmaker, Davido for this banging track, Somebody Baby.

Somebody Baby tells a hilarious story of a girl and two guys. If Peruzzi featured Davido in order to restrict listeners’ airflow, we can happily tell him he succeeded. The track itself is smoking hot, the beats were bopping, the lyrics of the song were catchy, and the visuals of the song, creatively stunning. The tune was produced by DMW in-house producer Fresh VDM… Listen and Enjoy!

Crayon – “Too Correct” feat. Rema

Too Correct is the second track on Crayon’s new project – Twelve AM EP, and it features bad boy Rema

Fusing together Afrobeats, Pop and Carribean sounds, Twelve A.M shows off Crayon’s versatility while remaining true to his roots. With additional support from fellow West African hitmakers Rema and One
Acen, Crayon warms us into the project with the smooth entry of ‘In Sync’ (prod. by London), before picking up the tempo with Rema fuelled party hit ‘Too Correct’ (prod. by Andre Vibez). We are later introduced to the anticipated Summer 2021 Afrobeat anthem ‘Mandem’ which reveals the well complimented collaboration with UK songwriter and producer, One Acen, tying the tape together nicely with percussion filled track ‘Jackpot’.
