Study says Only Half of Today’s Teens will get Married

Research shows only Half of Teenagers will get Married - BellaNaija

A new study by the Marriage Foundation says only half of teenagers between 13 and 18 will actually get married because they are falling out of love with the idea of marriage.

According to Daily Mail, the research predicts that just over half of teenagers will walk down the aisle. They project that just 57 per cent of girls and 55 per cent of boys currently aged 13 to 18 will become a wife or a husband later in life.

The figures contrasts largely with the research back in the 70s when over 81 percent were likely to get married.

Founder of the Marriage foundation, former High Court judge, Paul Coleridge, said:

Teenagers have bought into the myth that informal cohabitation delivers the same long-term security for their families, when that arrangement is three times more likely to end before their children become teenagers.
