“They are paying the price for supporting me” – Atiku on Son In-Law & Lawyer’s Arrest

The People’s Democratic Party candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar has condemned the alleged detention of his son-in-law, Babalele Abdullahi.

The former vice president accused the government of going those supporting in a post he wrote on Twitter today.

Abubakar also noted that Abdullahi has been in detention for three weeks, while his (Abubakar’s) lawyer was also allegedly detained recently.

“My son-in-law and [my] lawyer have been detained, one for three weeks and the other recently,” Atiku Abubakar tweeted.

“They are paying the price for supporting me. I urge those now persecuting them to remember that a government’s mandate is to pursue peace and justice for all, and not just those who support them.”

Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer, Abdullahi was arrested on Saturday in Abuja.

According to a statement by the former VP’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had allegedly marched into Abdullahi’s residence in Maitama, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the EFCC is yet to react to the allegations raised by Atiku Abubakar on his Twitter today.
