Ekiti State Government Sacks Perm Sec Over ‘Fraudulent’ Employment

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the immediate retirement of the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training in the state’s civil service, Olusesan Alabi.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by Fayemi’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode.

The statement directed Alabi to hand over to the most senior officer in the office.
Sources told The Eagle Online that Alabi was sacked over the release of employment letters to those the immediate past Administration of former Governor Ayo Fayose directed should be employed.

The Eagle Online gathered that as at Monday (today), Alabi still issued letters of employment to some of the candidates interviewed for employment in the closing days of the Fayose Administration.

Fayemi had after his inauguration on Tuesday met with the leadership of the Ekiti State Civil Service on Wednesday, where he warned against further recruitment.

A source told The Eagle Online: “It was as if all the Governor told the top civil servants fell on Alabi’s deaf ears as he went on issuing letters of employment.

“Even today, he still issued letters, leading to his immediate sack.”

Fayemi had before his inauguration warned against the hiring of workers by the Fayose Administration.

The outgone Administration was owing salaries as at when it left office, with workers at the local government on strike as it exited.

The workers only called off their strike on Sunday.

Fayose had in response to Fayemi’s directive that workers should not be engaged, accused the incumbent of having done the same shortly before handing over to him four years ago.
