HMD global, the parent company of Nokia is set to launch a newbie device into the smartphone market and this time it’s a midrange smartphone called the NOKIA 5.1 but will be known as NOKIA X5 in China. This smartphone is set to make it’s official debut and will be announce today. Already, there have been teasers and leaks of the Nokia 5.1 in different Chinese social media such as Weibo (China’s version of Twitter) and Baidu (another Chinese website). Looking at the leaked images we have, it looks like another notched display device will be added to the Nokia lineup, only a couple months after the release of the company’s first notched handset, the Nokia X6.
When it comes to the design, there is nothing stellar about the phone but it does look clean and simple, it’s not like Nokia is really know for unleashing smartphones with some badass designs like Samsung and other flagship makers but Nokia holds it’s own when it comes to quality and durability. the Nokia X5 (2018) is said to be powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek. The smartphone is said to come with 3GB/4GB of RAM. It is said to offer 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to come with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box, a 5.9-inch HD+ display and is said to house a 3000mAh battery.
Nokia will most likely update it to latest Android P operating system soon after Google makes it public which is good news for all Nokia lovers. I’m surprised Nokia is releasing this phone with a mediaTek Helio chipset instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon but then, maybe it’s because it’s going to be a budget phone. That shows that in terms of affordability, the Nokia 5.1 is going to be really affordabe. Price is said to be around $150, that should be around #60,000 in Nigeria (#400 to $1) for the 3GB variant. The 4GB variant is going to be a little more expensive than that.
It is also known that the smartphone will sport an iPhone X-like notch screen. On the camera front, the smartphone is said to feature an 5MP front shooter for selfies and a 13MP back camera with a rear mounted finger-print scanner . It will be released in lovely Blue, Black and white colors.
